Welcome to the Tabletops & Tentacles Forum!
We created this forum to be a place where people could have meaningful conversations about silly stuff, whether that's the things we created - our podcasts, magazine, games, RPGs and videos or virtually anything else! I have found myself increasingly frustrated with the ephemeral nature of social media these days - almost everything is geared towards short clips, 24 hour existences, snappy answers, the number of likes you get, creating memes that will get retweeted. The internet has become cynical and cyclical, caught in the constant loop and need for more content and it frustrates me. Forums are a little old-fashioned but I chose this format because things people say stick around and you can have actual conversations with people without losing the thread or getting distracted as easily. I grew up using forums and have made real, genuine, lasting friendships from those experiences and it might sound cheesy but I'd like to see if we can achieve that here. It ain't pretty, but I hope you'll give it a chance and take an amble through the categories and start a thread if the urge hits you.
However, a couple of important notes and rules about this forum:
This is a SAFE SPACE. I don't pretend to be the most politically correct person around, but we will not tolerate any kind of racism, sexism or attacks based on WHO A PERSON IS. Period. This is a no tolerance position and please respect that. I believe a person should be encouraged to be the person they want to be regardless of how they were born, raised or treated by others and I want this to be a safe, fun place for people.
NO POLITICS. I likely agree with most people that are on this forum and that's all well and good but especially now, politics are INCREDIBLY heated and volatile. So leave it out. There's plenty of other places to take that. You will get one warning. And that applies to silly jokes and memes.
GOLDEN RULE: I fully encourage honest, genuine conversation and criticism here but T&T is about enjoying our nerdy endeavors. If there is something you disagree on and you know it'll be an argument instead of a discussion, just don't comment. Keep it light, keep it fun whenever possible.
BE SUPPORTIVE: Folks will be sharing their work here, whether thats art, creations, painting, games, writing... Whatever it is, I would ask you to remain constructive with your criticism. We are all at different skill levels. At my buddy and co-conspirator Thom's old forum, we had an unspoken rule to find something that you like about a piece. That is a great rule. Even if you are offering criticism, a bit of genuine LOVE goes a long way.
SHARE YOUR STUFF... BUT IN THE RIGHT WAY A lot of us on here are creators and we would love for you to share your stuff - But please post them in appropriate locations. If you aren't sure where it should go, there is an all-purpose thread you can use. Also - Contribute to the forum. Don't just drop your links and leave. Comment on posts and when you share your links, be interactive - have a conversation about your podcast or new Kickstarter.
That's about it for now. Thanks for reading.
